North

I have just made it to the north coast of Peru, with only one long bus ride left. I must say i am a little sick of being on buses. Whitney and I had a good last week before heading home. After leaving Cusco we headed southwest to canyon country. We stayed near the Canyon del Colca which is the 2nd deepest canyon in the world. The deepest one was also right in that area but this canyon had hot springs that we could spend a day relaxing in. We took a trip to see a bunch of condors flying through the canyon, well it could have been one doing laps.
From Arequipa we went to this strange oasis town. It was a small town called Ica, which is centered around a lagoon with palm trees and nice hostals. All around this little oasis were huge sand dunes. We went flying around the dunes on dune buggies and did some sandboarding (well i guess whitney sandboarded with i just did some sledding).
Finally we headed to Lima where we stayed with a girl we met in cusco named Pilar. The a few days she showed us all around lima, which was great bc we would have had no idea where to start. It is a huge city with 11 million people. From there whitney and i parted ways, which feels very strange since we have been together every day for 4 months.
I have 4 days to get to Quito for my flight home. The beach here is quite nice but i just dont think it is possible for me to lay on the beach for a few days. Especially because the waves appear much to big to work on my surfing. I think today will be my only beach day of the whole trip and tomorrow i will head back to the mountains towards Quito. We will both be home in the next couple, so we will talk to you then.
