Once again, we had the necessary evil of taking an awful bus to the Amazon. This time we were woken many times throughout the night for drug checks in the middle of nowhere which made the night even worse than normal (especially when you throw in our stomach problems).
We arrived in Rurrenabaque in the morning and headed off for the Pampas. We had to take a long flooding boat ride through the pampas seeing monkeys, crocs, pink dolphins, and lots of other random things. We stayed in a camp type place with so many mosquitoes. Thankfully our beds were equiped with mosquito nets so we were able to sleep without mosquitos but still we had loud yelling monkeys nearby. For the next few days we looked for animals in the boat, swam, went pirranha fishing, and anaconda hunting on horseback. Neither of us caught pirranhas but almost everyone else did, and we had no luck in seeing anacondas. Maybe next time.
We spent Thanksgiving in the pampas with 8 other people who celebrated with us. It was all but one of there first times celebrating Thanksgiving. Although we had no turkey or sweet potatoes we still had a potatoes, llama, cake and wine, so it wasnt all a failure. We then headed back into town where in the car Katie was extremely annoying looking for sloths. Whitney says no more bus rides for me without a book. I really dont care because we finally saw two of them and they were great.
Today we are heading to Copacabana and will probably be in Peru by tomorrow. It is kind of sad to be leaving Bolivia, but it is time since we only have a little bit over 3 weeks until we are headed home. We are planning on taking some more Spanish classes in Cuzco and hike into Machu Picchu and then once again we have no further plans.
We will be adding some pics to some of the last blogs, but we are having trouble finding a computer that takes CDs. It may be a while after that because we have 2 broken cameras, but we are trying to get them fixed very soon.
